[Reprint] Now Online: Discover Hengqin's New Possibilities with Hengqin's Appeal

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. On October 15, the zone's Legal Affairs Bureau and China Daily jointly launched a digital brochure in Chinese, English and Portuguese, Hengqin's Appeal: New Space for Macao, a Land of Opportunity in Hengqin, referred to below as Hengqin's Appeal.

The brochure has five chapters covering industry, openness, talent, integrated livelihoods, and ecology, culture and tourism. From strategic planning to everyday urban life, it shows readers worldwide how the Macao–Hengqin vision has taken shape over the past five years, while introducing development opportunities and areas for cooperation in the zone's second phase.

One brochure, multiple perspectives on Hengqin's land of opportunity

The brochure opens with a systematic introduction to the zone's strategic positioning, governance model and development blueprint. Moving from industrial development to city life, it presents Hengqin's progress from multiple perspectives.

Each chapter opens with an original hand-drawn illustration, combining photographs, personal stories and infographics. Peach blossoms run throughout the visual design, turning the idea of an idyllic land of opportunity into a tangible vision of the city.

It covers the rapid development of the four emerging industries and the arrival of major enterprises, innovation platforms and industrial facilities; policy innovations such as the two 15% tax incentives and separate customs administration; and platforms for cooperation with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries.

It also explores the arrival of talent from around the world, the expansion of Macao universities into Hengqin, and the emergence of a half-hour living circle connecting Hengqin and Macao.

Together, these developments illustrate the zone's achievements over five years and give readers a clearer sense of Hengqin's energy and extensive opportunities.

More than figures: the stories of Hengqin

Beyond policies and statistics, this is a warm and engaging portrait of Hengqin. The brochure focuses on the enterprises and people who have put down roots here: companies exploring new paths for domestic chip development through open-source computing; local listed companies advancing surgical robotics; and researchers, Macao entrepreneurs and cross-border residents pursuing their ambitions, building careers and making a life.

Through these accounts, the broad vision of Macao plus Hengqin becomes a collection of real, tangible stories.
